Guidelines to submit the research proposal of the 2016 call
The students applying for the Master’s in Political Sociology are required
to follow these criteria to submit their research proposal:
1. Identification.
The first page of the document will contain the title of the proposal
and the author’s name.
2. Structure. T
he research proposal must have a consistent and precise structure. It should be
written correctly, with no orthographic errors. Citations and references must
follow conventional academic guidelines.
3. Explanation of the subject.
The proposal must explain clearly the research subject, discussing the
background of the problem and stating the relevance of conducting the study.
4. Objective of the research. .
It is necessary that the proposal express the main objective of the study.
A precise, delimited and viable is recommended. Specific goals must be
clearly linked to the general objective.
5. Theoretical and conceptual framework.
Besides the description of the problem, the proposal must include a
discussion on the theories, concepts and categories of sociopolitical
relevant for the research, reviewing the bibliography specialized in the subject.
6. Research design
The proposal must refer to observation units, techniques to gather data, and
information sources that could be used. In the case of theoretical studies,
the proposal must describe schools, theories, or corpus that could be applied
in the analysis.

Relation to the Master’s in Political Sociology.The
research proposal must expressly point out the way in which it relates
to the program of the Master’s in Political Sociology and to the corresponding
research lines.
The applicant must consider the following structure for the research proposal:
The background of the subject matter to be studied
The main issue and the general objective of the research
The theoretical and analytic framework
The methodological design and the research techniques to be used to undertake the study.
