He is a full-time researcher at the José María Luis Mora Research Institute (CONACYT) in Mexico City. He has graduated from Great Britain’s London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in Master’s in International Relations, and a PhD in Analysis and Governance of Sustainable Development from the International University of Venice, Italy. His research interests include areas related to security, environmental security, humanitarian help, and disasters. On those matters, he has recently worked as main consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and for the Office of the United Nations against Drug and Crime for Mexico (UNODC), Central America, and the Caribbean, coordinating the UN Special Report on Transnational Organized Crime and its threats in Central America and the Caribbean. He is associate researcher of the Research Program in Climatic Change (PINCC) of the UNAM, of several Mexican and international programs and he takes part in academic networks on international cooperation, security, and sustainable development. He has collaborated with several United Nations Programs (UNEP, UNIDO, ECLAC), of the European Union (Europe Aid), in the Balkans, Central America, and Mexico. He was visiting researcher at the Centre of Research on North America of the UNAM (CISAN-UNAM). He has also collaborated with the Development Planning Unit (DPU) of the University College of London (UCL), Great Britain, and with the University of Bergen, Norway.
He has coordinated various collective books and is the author of publication written in English, Spanish, and Italian. He is a member of editorial committees in different academic Mexican and international journal, and member of the National Researchers System, level 1.
